The Proud King Lion

He sits on his cushy “throne” while the stars glitter in the twilight above him – is it morning or evening? The cool breezes swirl around him as he dreams of being king. Is he lonely in his solitude, or does he take a pleasure and contentment in reflecting on his dreams? And so he sits in silence, immersed in his thoughts, and having a dream in his heart.

Out of the blue swoops a winged denizen of the skies, looping gracefully through the fertile grounds of the imagination. Haven’t we seen him before, or ridden on his wings in free flights of fantasy? Yes, he appears in earlier posts, such as This One , and is now revisiting us as a muse of inspiration.

Have you ever been out walking under the blue skies, thinking of nothing in particular, and then suddenly have a thought or idea pop into your mind, seemingly out of nowhere? Perhaps you have been dealing with some kind of issue in your life, or struggling to find some inspiration for a creative work. And then it comes sweeping into your mind from out of the blue, with an unexpected level of clarity and insight. This is your subconscious mind at work, uniting the underlying psyche with the everyday doings and concerns of the world around you, and threading the eye of the needle with an inspiration to help sew the pieces together.

Sometimes the insights that come to your mind take the form of fond memories of experiences with those whom you know, or may have known . As you reflect on them, the feelings and emotions of those memories often come back to mind, to sweep you into a gently gliding daydream where you are with them, drifting along with those fond recollections. Is this not like gliding in the twilight with the one you love, as the cool evening breezes waft you over the tops of the palm fronds, which sway gently in your dreams? And then you remember why you love to be with them, or wish to be with them again.

NOTES ON THE CREATIVE PROCESS: The images in this sequence were drawn one at a time, with each subsequent image connecting smoothly with the one before it. When put together, the images combine to make a wide panoramic image. The commentaries were based on whatever thoughts and feelings the images happened to inspire within me when I was reviewing them.

Note that this post is a kind of continuation from the last post, in that the images from these posts are meant to combine with each other to make a larger overall image, in context. Also, the musings in this post continue from those of the previous post, like a kind of “train of thought”. This is another way that the idea of “intercontexting” is being used…
