Message in a Bottle

Message In A Bottle

Message In A Bottle

It drifts among the rippling waves
and bobs so rhythmically
A message in a bottle
awash amid the sea.

The ocean currents carry it
to places far and wide
To some distant unknown shoreline
where it will end its ride.

And then some seaside traveler
will embrace it in their hands
To read the secret message
they’ve lifted from the sands:
A note of loneliness, or of love
or maybe a kind greeting –
From some strange land so far away
two strangers’ hearts are meeting.

How long has it been voyaging
among the windswept waves?
How many perils did it face
from which a kind fate saved?
Till it was carried to the shore
atop a breaking wave –
A message in a bottle
Is a treasure you must save!
