Boozing and Cruising and Losing

When You Booze and Cruise, You Lose

When You Booze and Cruise, You Lose

Boozin’ and Cruisin’ and Losing

There was a fellow who drank some booze
and then went on a little cruise
Before too long his mind did snooze
and through a red light he did cruise

Then in his mirror he did see
a bright blue light flashing relentlessly
He was pulled over
his cruise was over-

“You must’ve been drinking,” the vexed cop said –
“and you ran the light when it was red!”
A sense of panic ran through the fellow’s head
and now, he wished that he was dead

And all the traffic passed him by
the necks did bend, the eyes did spy –
He really wished that he could hide
he should’ve never took that ride!

He went to court for DUI
and they slapped him with a heavy fine
and told him that next time
he just might end up doing some time!

Hey, don’t be in that fellow’s shoes –
when you Booze, and Cruise, you Lose!

NOTES ON THE CREATIVE PROCESS: I was looking at the image in theĀ  last post , and the idea entered my mind for the image that appears in this post. Then I wrote the poem to go along with the image.
