How do moods look?
If you were to reduce them to their absolute basic essence, how would you depict them? What colors would you use? What kinds of shapes, if any?
It seems that there is actually a very wide variety of moods and shades of moods, and a nearly infinite variety of ways to depict them. And surely every individual would depict them in their own unique way, just as they experience them in their own unique way.
I was doing a little experimenting with flowing with some of my moods, recording the essence of the moods on paper, and then making drawings based on some of them.
Here are some of the images that resulted:
First, the basic “mood essences” –
After I had accumulated a number of these “mood essences”, I took some of them and looked them over for a while, to let myself sort of “absorb the moods”. Then I drew whatever seemed to flow naturally from that “mood”.
Here are some images that resulted from this:
The “mood”, or “feeling” that the color washes elicit in me serves to then inspire me to draw something based on these feelings.
By the way, the last image shown above also appears in an earlier post. (If the image serves as any hint, can you guess at what kind of “feeling” I was writing about in that post?)
The combining of these feelings, moods and drawn images to form pictures can ultimately be called a gentle form of “intercontexting”…
