A strange little incident once occurred when I was in the kitchen doing a little chore of rearranging some containers of food, and a little bit of rice fell on the floor. In a twinge of exasperation, I let out a cuss-word. It wasn’t that loud (at least I didn’t think it was), but another family member, who was rather nearby (but not in the kitchen) with my young “tween-aged” niece, asked me why I said that “bad word”, and that my niece had heard it. Then they said that my niece wanted to know why I said it. I really did not answer, as I continued to work on things in the kitchen. I started smiling to myself (although I was actually starting to feel a little bit guilty about having been heard cussing by a young person – and then getting “caught” for it…) A little while later, I was informed that my niece still was asking why I had said that “bad word”. (Was that silly little thing still on their minds?) And so I told them that a little bit of rice had fallen on the floor, and so I had cussed about it. And then they started laughing at the silly reason for the utterance of that “bad word”. After that, I didn’t feel quite so guilty about it… and, as a bonus, the silly little incident later gave me a reason to display the image that you see in this post…
NOTES: Actually, there is a deeper kind of story behind the picture, but I will save that for perhaps a later post… (And if you want to see that “bad word” [or at least a word that is close to it] that I was caught saying, click here to read this earlier post- )
