A Day in a Dream
I once had a dream I saw the sun
a-rising o’er the world as One,
To herald the birth of a glorious day
when peace ruled the world in every way –
Where men no longer die in vain
nor do children feel the pain
How long must we wait
to live in that world?
Will we live to see that day?
Will we ever see that day?
And then on that day the sun stood high
like a guiding beacon in the sky
Its light shone down on a world united by love,
Led ever forward by the light from above –
Where men no longer die in vain
nor do children feel the pain
How long must we wait
to live in that world?
Will we live to see that day?
Will we ever see that day?
For so many ages
we have shed so many tears,
but we dream of a world
free from doubt and dread and fear…
When the evening time came and the sun left the sky,
then the stars began to shine
In the still of the night they watched from on high
while the whole world slept in peace –
Where men no longer die in vain
nor do children feel the pain
How long must we wait
to live in that world?
Will we live to see that day?
Will we ever see that day?
(How long must we wait
to live in that world?
Will we live to see that day?
Will we ever see that day?)
It remains one of the greatest hopes and dreams of humanity that the day will someday arrive when we will truly have peace on earth, and good will to men.
Merry Christmas, and Happy Holidays, Everyone!
